Summary
- India and Sri Lanka advance to semifinals due to higher rankings.
- Rainout in quarterfinals led to automatic qualification for semis.
- India will advance to the final if the semifinal match is rained out.
The Indian men's cricket team is set to compete against Sri Lanka in the semifinal of the Asian Games 2026 cricket tournament. Both nations secured direct entry into the quarterfinals based on their ICC T20I rankings. However, adverse weather conditions in Japan resulted in the cancellation of all quarterfinal matches.
Consequently, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh have all progressed to the semifinals based on their higher rankings. Pakistan is scheduled to play Bangladesh in the other semifinal match. Notably, should the semifinal encounter between India and Sri Lanka be affected by rain and unable to produce a result, India will advance to the final.
This advancement will be attributed to their superior ranking position compared to Sri Lanka. The match is scheduled to take place at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.
