Ashwin: Delhi Capitals' future a mystery amid losses
27 Apr
Summary
- Ashwin questions Delhi Capitals' opening pair and player roles.
- Team faces challenges with Nissanka's form and Ngidi's injury.
- Delhi Capitals struggle at home, with poor record against RCB.
Ravichandran Ashwin has expressed bewilderment regarding the Delhi Capitals' strategy and future direction amidst their struggles in IPL 2026. Following two significant defeats, where the team conceded over 240 runs in both matches, Delhi Capitals now sit seventh in the points table. Ashwin highlighted several "I don't know" scenarios, including the opening batting combination, player utilization like Abishek Porel, and the availability of key bowlers.
Compounding their issues are Pathum Nissanka's poor form and Lungi Ngidi's concussion, with Mitchell Starc's availability also uncertain post-May 1. The team faces a daunting task against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 27, especially given their poor home record against RCB. Delhi have lost two of their three home games this season and have a historically unfavorable record against Bengaluru at their home ground.
