5 Mar
Summary
- Arkansas suffered its largest defeat under coach Calipari, a 111-77 loss.
- Texas recently snapped a two-game losing streak with a road win.
- Arkansas aims to secure an SEC tournament double-bye with two games left.
No. 20 Arkansas faced a significant setback, losing 111-77 to No. 7 Florida. This defeat, the largest in coach John Calipari's tenure, impacted their standing for an SEC tournament double-bye. Arkansas is now one game ahead of several teams with two games left in the regular season.
The Texas Longhorns, conversely, are seeking momentum after a 76-70 road victory against Texas A&M. This win helped break a two-game losing streak for the Longhorns. Coach Sean Miller acknowledged the importance of road wins in the competitive SEC.
Arkansas's scoring offense, previously averaging 90.3 points, struggled in the loss, shooting 40 percent and being outrebounded significantly. Key players like Darius Acuff Jr. were limited by Florida's defense. Texas looks to capitalize on Arkansas's recent struggles as they head into their upcoming conference matchup.
