The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh has declared sports development a top priority for the state government. Plans are underway to establish a comprehensive, world-class Sports City in Amaravati, intended to host a variety of sporting events at a single location.
Furthering the commitment to individual sports, specific land allocations have been made for elite badminton academies. PV Sindhu will receive 3 acres in Visakhapatnam, Pullela Gopichand is allotted 12 acres in Amaravati, and Kidambi Srikanth will have 5 acres in Tirupati.
In a notable initiative, 421 eligible sportspersons have been appointed to government positions through the Sports DSC, utilizing horizontal reservation and foregoing written examinations. This marks a significant step in recognizing and rewarding athletic talent within the state.
