During the Belgian Grand Prix FP1 session on Friday, Kimi Antonelli vocally expressed his frustration with Carlos Sainz after the latter blocked him on the track. Antonelli had to take evasive action and later aired his anger over the team radio.
Sainz appeared surprised by the incident and gestured in frustration. This occurrence comes as Antonelli aims to recover from late-race issues at the British Grand Prix, which saw him lose points. He currently leads the championship by 25 points over George Russell.
Mercedes has fitted a new internal combustion engine into Antonelli's car for the Belgian GP due to a discovered issue with the previous unit. This is Antonelli's fourth and final legally permitted ICE for the 2026 season.
Several other drivers, including Lando Norris and Max Verstappen, are also utilizing new engines at this event. Isack Hadjar is the only driver facing a grid penalty, having already used five ICE units.
