Anthony Davis's tenure with the Washington Wizards is set to begin as planned, according to his agent. Amidst significant trade rumors circulating throughout the summer, Rich Paul confirmed on the "Game Over" podcast that Davis will indeed play for the Wizards this season.

Davis was acquired by Washington in February 2026 from the Dallas Mavericks, following their decision to move on from the Luka Doncic trade. The lack of games played by Davis since his acquisition fueled speculation about his future, with the Golden State Warriors notably emerging as a potential suitor, partly in an effort to attract LeBron James. However, Paul dismissed knowledge of any trade discussions.

The potential for Golden State to land both Davis and James appears unlikely. The Warriors' quiet offseason suggests they were awaiting LeBron's decision. Acquiring Davis would likely require trading Jimmy Butler, a move the franchise has publicly stated it will not make. With Butler's availability in question and Golden State unwilling to trade him, the path for LeBron to join them seems improbable.
