Alvarez Dominates, Earns Pitcher of the Week

Andrew Alvarez, a left-handed pitcher optioned to Triple-A Rochester, has earned International League Pitcher of the Week honors. This recognition comes after a dominant performance where he pitched five scoreless innings, surrendering only one hit and striking out 10 batters. His season began with a less successful outing, but this recent start signifies a strong rebound.

Alvarez, who made his major league debut last September, previously impressed with a 2.31 ERA over five starts. Despite some underlying concerns from his previous MLB stint, his current form suggests he is nearing readiness for another opportunity in the major leagues, potentially as an injury replacement or to bolster a struggling rotation.
