In a milestone achievement, American tennis player Taylor Fritz has become the first U.S. man in 20 years to record 50 or more wins in three consecutive seasons. The last American to accomplish this feat was former world No. 1 Andy Roddick, who did it for four years in a row from 2002 to 2005.
Fresh off a run to the final of the ATP 500 event in Tokyo, Fritz made a winning start to his campaign at the Masters 1000 event in Shanghai on Friday night. He battled back from a first-set blow-out to defeat Hungary's Fabian Marozsan, 2-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (1). Fritz served to stay in the match twice in the second set and was down an early mini-break at 2-0 in the second-set tiebreaker, but he ultimately prevailed to secure his 50th win of the 2025 season.
This victory marks a significant milestone for the American player, who has now joined an elite group of players to have achieved 50 or more wins in three consecutive years. With his consistent performance, Fritz has proven himself as a force to be reckoned with on the ATP Tour.
