Alycia Baumgardner was signed by Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) in March 2025 with the goal of establishing her as women's boxing's next prominent figure. This aligns with the potential retirements of boxing icons Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano in 2026, opening a significant opportunity for Baumgardner to ascend. Baumgardner, the WBO, IBF, and WBA junior lightweight champion, is headlining MVPW 02 on Friday at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This event, broadcast on ESPN, is seen as her pivotal moment to demonstrate her claim as the sport's future face. She has been actively promoted with co-main event spots on major cards since her signing.

Originally from Fremont, Ohio, Baumgardner's journey began with wrestling at age five before transitioning to boxing, inspired by family members. Despite facing financial struggles and working multiple jobs early in her career, she persevered. A pivotal moment came in 2021 when she challenged WBC junior lightweight champion Terri Harper on short notice, securing a world title and launching her into prominence.

Despite recent dominant wins, Baumgardner has faced criticism for a perceived lack of high-profile matchups since her significant victory over Harper. She also navigated a controversial positive drug test in July 2023, from which she was later cleared.
