Alonso Sees Progress Amid Aston Martin Struggles

Fernando Alonso maintained a positive outlook following qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix, even as Aston Martin secured the back row for the third race in a row. Alonso qualified 21st, ahead of teammate Lance Stroll, with both drivers significantly off the pace. Despite the challenging altitude and track conditions at the Red Bull Ring, Alonso noted substantial improvements in drivability, gearbox, and energy consistency from practice to qualifying.

Alonso found encouragement in the fact that his qualifying deficit was smaller than in any of the practice sessions. He highlighted the team's dedication, with all 1000 employees working diligently despite the team's last-place standing. This collective effort, he stated, inspires the drivers to remain motivated and continue their maximum performance efforts. The team is holding off on major car updates until later in the summer.
