Discussions are underway between Pato and the team's current owner, Robbie Cowling, regarding a potential investment in the fourth-division side. Cowling is reportedly open to selling the club, which still has aspirations for promotion to League One this season. Colchester United, established 88 years ago, has a history that includes reaching the Championship but has never played in the Premier League. Since its relegation from League One in 2016, the club has remained in League Two. This potential move aligns with a growing trend of investments in British football clubs by athletes and celebrities.
