Hall Grabs Slopestyle Silver, Falls Short of Gold Repeat
10 Feb
Summary
- Alex Hall secured Olympic silver in men's slopestyle skiing.
- Birk Ruud of Norway won gold, narrowly beating Hall.
- Hall's teammates Forehand and Ralph finished outside the medals.

Alex Hall, the defending Olympic gold medalist, has claimed the silver medal in the men's freeski slopestyle competition. Hall, hailing from Salt Lake City, posted a score of 85.75 on his second attempt, placing him narrowly behind leader Birk Ruud of Norway. Unfortunately, Hall experienced a fall on the rails during his final run, ending his bid for consecutive Olympic titles.
Birk Ruud, already a leader after the qualifying rounds, maintained his strong performance. The Norwegian athlete, who also holds Olympic gold in big air and two slopestyle world championship titles, achieved an 86.28 on his second run to secure the gold medal. Ruud also fell on his final run, but his earlier score was sufficient for victory. Luca Harrington of New Zealand completed the podium, earning the bronze medal with an 85.15.
Two other American competitors, Konnor Ralph of Helena, Montana, and Mac Forehand of Fairfield, Connecticut, did not reach the medal positions. Ralph finished ninth with a 66.76, and Forehand placed eleventh with a 55.93. Both athletes are expected to compete in the upcoming big air event. The U.S. has a strong history in Olympic freeski slopestyle, having won seven of twelve available medals since its introduction in 2014.
