Carlos Alcaraz is set to commence his 2026 Paris Masters journey on November 4th, facing Alex Michelsen in the second round following a bye. Alcaraz arrives in strong form, having recently clinched the Vienna Open title. His previous victories in Vienna included wins over Daniil Medvedev and Alex de Minaur.
Michelsen secured his passage to this round by overcoming Jiri Lehecka in a three-set comeback. This marked a significant achievement against a recent Basel finalist. Despite showing flashes of talent during the indoor hard-court season, Michelsen faces a considerable challenge against the second seed.
Alcaraz leads their career head-to-head series 1-0, having defeated Michelsen in their previous encounter at the Japan Open. The Spaniard's aggressive style and superior movement are expected to give him an advantage in Paris.
