Alabama football kicker Conor Talty experienced a difficult outing against Eastern Illinois, culminating in boos from the home crowd following a missed 28-yard field goal attempt. This incident occurred amidst a dominant 56-0 victory for the Crimson Tide.
Head Coach Kalen DeBoer addressed the situation post-game, urging fans to support Talty, whom he described as working hard and having the full backing of the locker room. DeBoer mentioned that Talty had a strong week of practice, making all his kicks, and emphasized the team's collective effort.
The coach also clarified that having multiple kickers attempt extra points was a pre-planned strategy to provide opportunities, not a direct response to Talty's struggles. Talty entered the game with the second-lowest field goal percentage among SEC kickers, having made 11 of his 18 attempts.
