Al-Ahli Targets European Stars for Coaching Hot Seat

Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia is in pursuit of a new coach to fill the vacancy left by Matthias Jaissle, who is reportedly nearing a move to Newcastle United. The club is targeting candidates with significant European experience to lead them into the next phase.

Among the leading contenders is Arne Slot, who became available after his tenure at Liverpool last May, having previously guided the team to a Premier League title. Slot has reportedly considered other offers, including from Fulham and a potential role with the Netherlands national team, but remains unattached.

Portuguese coach Vitor Pereira is also a strong option, bringing familiar experience from his previous roles in the Saudi league, including with Al-Shabab and Al-Ahli itself. Pereira's recent departure from Nottingham Forest at the start of July, despite keeping them in the Premier League, makes him available.

Al-Ahli's management is moving swiftly, reportedly holding official talks with several coaches. The current shortlist includes five names, with negotiations ongoing to finalize Jaissle's successor.
