Air Force has parted ways with head basketball coach Joe Scott, as announced by the school on Friday, February 21, 2026. Scott had been suspended indefinitely last month, initiating an inquiry into the alleged mistreatment of cadet-athletes. During his recent tenure, which began in 2020, the Falcons failed to achieve a top-10 finish in the Mountain West Conference, concluding their last two seasons in last place. The team's record was 3-14 overall, including a 0-6 conference record, at the time of his suspension.
Scott's previous stint at the Academy from 1999 to 2004 proved more successful. In that period, he guided the Air Force men's basketball program to the NCAA tournament in 2004, securing 22 wins and the Mountain West regular-season title. Following his departure from Air Force, Scott coached at Princeton for three seasons before moving to Denver, where he achieved back-to-back 22-win seasons in 2012 and 2013, clinching the WAC regular-season title in 2013.
