24 Jul
Summary
- Izaak Michell removed due to sexual assault warrant.
- Taylor Pearman replaces Michell in the 77 kg tournament.
- Adele Fornarino also removed due to UFC BJJ booking.
The upcoming ADCC 2026 World Championships will see notable changes to its competitor list. Izaak Michell, the ADCC Asia & Oceania Trials winner, has been removed from the 77 kg category. This decision follows reports of an active warrant for his arrest in Texas related to sexual assault allegations. Michell has been replaced by British athlete Taylor Pearman, a former ADCC Trials winner.
Furthermore, Adele Fornarino, a reigning ADCC double gold medalist, has also been withdrawn from the women's -55 kg tournament. Fornarino is set to compete in a UFC BJJ flyweight tournament, with her semi-final bout scheduled for August 20, 2026. This UFC BJJ commitment could conflict with the ADCC 2026 dates of September 12-13. UFC BJJ has indicated strict enforcement of exclusive contracts, and no current UFC BJJ champions are listed for ADCC 2026.
