Acuña Family's Baseball Dynasty: From Minors to Majors

Braves superstar Ronald Acuña Jr. has faced his fair share of injuries throughout his career, but he continues to bounce back and cement his status as one of the faces of baseball. Acuña's superstardom has also brought increased interest in his personal life, and it's clear that baseball runs deep in the Acuña family.

Acuña's father, Ronald Acuña Sr., played in the minor leagues from 1999 to 2011 and represented Venezuela at the 2011 Pan American Games. Acuña's maternal grandfather, Romualdo Blanco, also had a professional career as a pitcher in the Astros and Padres minor league systems from 1971-77. Additionally, Acuña's uncle, José Escobar, appeared in 10 MLB games with the Cleveland Indians in 1991.

Acuña's younger brothers are also making waves in the sport. His brother Luisangel, an infielder, made his MLB debut for the Mets in September 2024 after being traded from the Rangers. Another brother, Bryan, signed a minor league contract with the Twins in 2022 and is currently playing for their Single-A affiliate. Acuña's youngest brother, Kenny, reportedly reached a verbal agreement to sign with the Phillies when he becomes eligible in 2028.

The Acuña family's baseball legacy extends even further, with Acuña being related to several other MLB players, including Vicente Campos, Alcides Escobar, Edwin Escobar, and Kelvim Escobar.
