As of November 11th, 2025, the first preseason AP Top 25 rankings for the 2025-26 college basketball season have been released, and the ACC is once again making its presence felt among the nation's elite teams.
Duke University sits at #4 in the country, followed by #12 Louisville and #18 North Carolina. Each of these ACC powerhouses has started the season with a 2-0 record, thanks in large part to the arrival of their highly touted freshmen recruits. These young stars are expected to lead their teams as contenders in the ACC as the season progresses.
The only other ACC team to receive votes in the poll is NC State, though they fell short of cracking the Top 25. Additionally, Stanford and Virginia Tech each received a single vote, with the latter boasting a Greek star who is poised to make a significant impact.
The ACC's resurgence as the premier basketball conference in the country appears to be well underway. The young head coaches leading these programs have proven their ability to develop talent and position their teams for success. As the season unfolds, the ACC is primed to reclaim its rightful place atop the college basketball landscape.
