Oregon's 2027 recruiting class has potentially gained a major asset with the five-star upgrade of quarterback prospect Will Mencl by Rivals. Mencl, who is set to announce his commitment on April 22, is now ranked as the No. 13 player nationally and the top quarterback in his class.
His impressive junior season included leading Chandler High School to a 10-3 record and the Arizona Division championship game. Mencl completed 70.37% of his passes for 3,815 yards and 33 touchdowns, while also rushing for 741 yards and 17 touchdowns.
The Ducks entered Mencl's recruitment late but now hold a strong advantage, with a 98.5% chance of securing his commitment according to On3. Mencl recently visited Oregon and highlighted his strong relationship with quarterback coach Koa Ka'ai as a key factor in his decision.
If Mencl commits, he would join a 2027 class currently ranked No. 7 nationally, aiming to bolster the team's future quarterback position for the next four years.
