6 Jan
Summary
- Kyzir White, ex-Eagles player, joins 49ers' depleted linebacker corps.
- Multiple 49ers linebackers are injured, including Fred Warner.
- White spent most of this season on the Titans' practice squad.
The San Francisco 49ers are reinforcing their linebacker corps with the acquisition of veteran Kyzir White. This move comes as the team faces significant injuries at the position, impacting their readiness for the upcoming playoff game. White, who was part of the Philadelphia Eagles team that reached the Super Bowl three seasons ago, is set to join the 49ers' practice squad.
The 49ers' linebacker unit has been hit hard by injuries. Star player Fred Warner suffered an ankle injury, and his replacement, Tatum Bethune, is out for the season with a groin tear. Additionally, Dee Winters and Luke Gifford are also dealing with injuries, creating a critical need for reinforcements. White's addition provides immediate depth and experience to a severely depleted group.
White, an eight-year veteran, spent most of the current season on the Tennessee Titans' practice squad after dealing with a hamstring injury. He previously had a productive season with the Arizona Cardinals, recording 137 tackles. His playoff experience with the Eagles in 2022, where he contributed in the NFC Championship game against the 49ers, adds valuable postseason knowledge to the team.
