The 49ers are enhancing their safety depth by adding Patrick McMorris, a player with prior NFL experience. McMorris was originally selected by the Miami Dolphins in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
During his rookie season, he participated in six games and logged one tackle. McMorris also had stints with the Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants but did not play in any regular season games for those teams. He was recently released by the Giants and also attended the Cleveland Browns' minicamp on a tryout basis.
The 49ers' top returning safeties include Ji'Ayir Brown and Malik Mustapha. Additionally, the team reached an agreement with undrafted rookie Jalen Stroman on Sunday.
