49ers RB Room Hit by Another Injury

The San Francisco 49ers' running back depth has been further tested as Patrick Taylor Jr. was placed on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury. This marks Taylor's second consecutive season ending prematurely due to a significant injury, having dealt with a shoulder issue last year. The team has re-signed Khalil Herbert to fill the roster vacancy created by Taylor's placement on IR. Herbert, a sixth-round pick in 2021, has previous NFL experience with several teams.

This situation exacerbates existing injury concerns for the 49ers' backfield. Running backs Jordan James and Isaac Guerendo are also currently sidelined. James sustained fractured ribs during training camp, while Guerendo is recovering from a torn pectoral muscle sustained earlier in the offseason. Should Guerendo be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list, he would compete for a roster spot against Herbert and Sincere McCormick.
