49ers Reunite with Veteran WR Bourne on One-Year Deal
8 Sep
Summary
- 49ers sign Kendrick Bourne to 1-year, $5M deal
- Bourne played 4 seasons with 49ers before joining Patriots
- 49ers dealing with injuries to key offensive players

In a move to bolster their receiving corps, the San Francisco 49ers have agreed to a one-year, $5 million contract with free-agent wide receiver Kendrick Bourne. Bourne, 30, originally signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2017 and spent four seasons with the team before leaving for the New England Patriots in 2021.
The 49ers were in need of reinforcements at wide receiver, with several key players dealing with injuries. Brandon Aiyuk, Jacob Cowing, and Jordan Watkins were all sidelined, while Demarcus Robinson was suspended for the first three games. Additionally, Jauan Jennings and tight end George Kittle both left the team's season opener against the Seattle Seahawks with injuries and did not return.
Bourne, who missed most of the Patriots' training camp this summer with a foot injury, had 28 catches for 305 yards and a touchdown in 12 games for New England last season. He is now set to rejoin a 49ers offense that is looking to bounce back from a disappointing start to the 2025 campaign.
