Summary
- Justin Turner hits game-winning 2-run homer for Cubs
- Turner is 2nd-oldest player to hit 1st career walk-off homer
- Turner is a 17-year MLB veteran, 2-time All-Star

On August 3rd, the Chicago Cubs pulled off a dramatic comeback victory over the Baltimore Orioles, thanks to a game-winning 2-run home run from veteran slugger Justin Turner. Appearing as a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the 9th inning, the 40-year-old Turner took Orioles pitcher Keegan Aiken deep to give the Cubs a 5-3 win at Wrigley Field.
Turner's clutch blast not only secured the victory for the Cubs, but also placed him in rare company in baseball history. According to MLB.com's Sarah Langs, Turner is now the 2nd-oldest player to hit his first career regular season walk-off home run, at 40 years and 253 days old. He trails only Murray Dickson, who was 41 years and 278 days old when he accomplished the feat in 1958.
A 17-year MLB veteran, Turner is a 2-time All-Star who helped the Los Angeles Dodgers win the 2020 World Series. Though he's hitting just .217 this season, the Cubs signed him as a free agent this past offseason, and his dramatic heroics on August 3rd proved his value as a clutch hitter off the bench.
