The 2027 Ashes cricket schedule has been announced, omitting the historic northern venues of Headingley in Leeds and Old Trafford in Manchester. This decision has led to criticism, notably from prominent figures who previously served as mayors. All five Test matches are scheduled to take place in the Midlands and the south of England.
The series commences on June 18 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Traditionalists will be pleased to see Lord's in London host the second Test on June 30. The third Test will be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham on July 8.
Hampshire's Rose Bowl, located near Southampton, will be the venue for the fourth Test, starting on July 21, making it the tenth ground in the UK to host an Ashes Test. The concluding fifth Test is set to be held at the Oval in south London from July 29 to August 2.
Despite their exclusion from the 2027 fixtures, both Old Trafford and Headingley are confirmed to host Ashes Tests in 2031. This announcement follows Australia's dominant 4-1 victory in the 2025-26 Ashes series and the memorable 2-2 draw in England in 2023. England's last home Ashes victory was in 2015.
