Rays vs. Brewers: Historic First-Time World Series Battle
21 Oct
Summary
- Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers vie for their first championship.
- Postseason extra innings follow traditional rules, not regular season ghost runner.
- The World Series begins October 23rd and concludes by October 31st.
The 2026 World Series is set to make history as the Tampa Bay Rays face the Milwaukee Brewers. This marks a significant event, as neither team has ever secured a World Series championship before. Baseball fans will observe a critical rule difference during this championship series. Unlike the regular season's "ghost runner" rule in extra innings, postseason games will adhere to traditional play without an automatic runner on base starting in the 10th inning.
The highly anticipated series is scheduled to begin on Friday, October 23, 2026, with the first two games hosted in Milwaukee. The teams will then travel to Tampa Bay for Games 3, 4, and potentially 5. If necessary, the series will return to Milwaukee for Games 6 and 7, with the championship concluding by October 31st. This best-of-seven format promises an exciting conclusion to the baseball season.
