Home Run Derby Goes Digital: Netflix Streams Philly Showdown

Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia is set to host the 2026 T-Mobile Home Run Derby on Monday, July 13th, at 8 p.m. ET. For the first time, this electrifying event will be available live on Netflix, marking a significant shift in its broadcast strategy. The competition will feature a new format, replacing timed rounds with a swing-based system to prioritize player safety and reduce the risk of injuries that plagued previous contests.

Participants will now receive a set number of swings per round: 20 in the first round, followed by 15 in the semifinals and finals. If a batter homers on their final swing, they continue hitting until they fail to homer, with no bonus rounds. The top four performers from the first round will advance to the semifinals, seeded by their home run totals, and compete in a bracket format. Ties in the first round will be decided by home run distance, while semifinals and finals will use three-swing tiebreakers.

The field boasts a compelling mix of established stars and emerging talent. Bryce Harper, the 2018 champion and a hometown favorite, returns alongside fellow Phillie Kyle Schwarber, who leads the majors in home runs this season. Other notable participants include Kansas City Royals outfielder Jac Caglianone, Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero, Boston Red Sox first baseman Willson Contreras, Chicago White Sox first baseman Munetaka Murakami, New York Yankees first baseman Ben Rice, and St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker.
