This ultra-challenge, undertaken without any sleep between the walk and the run, has so far raised more than £61,000 for Dementia UK. The volunteer ambassador for the charity began his fundraising journey in 2018 with a target of £5,000.
He has since amassed over £400,000 for Dementia UK, with this latest endeavor significantly boosting his fundraising total. Describing the experience, he mentioned feeling delirious upon finishing, even admitting to grabbing and eating an ice cream from a bystander. The runner highlighted the communal spirit of the marathon as an example of how people can unite to help others.
The mental fortitude required for the walk, particularly during the nighttime hours in pitch darkness, was immense. He described it as a "different level" of mental battle but expressed satisfaction in successfully completing the challenge. This accomplishment marks his seventh time running the London Marathon.
