Soyuz MS-28 Crew Returns to Earth Sunday

The Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft is scheduled to land in the Kazakh steppes on Sunday afternoon, marking the return of the 74th long-term expedition crew from the International Space Station. The returning crew consists of Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergey Mikayev, and NASA astronaut Christopher Williams.

Undocking from the ISS is planned for 10:03 a.m. Moscow time, followed by autonomous flight and engine burns for orbital descent. The spacecraft will experience significant heating and plasma formation during atmospheric entry before parachute deployment and a soft landing assisted by retrorockets. The landing is expected near the city of Zhezkazgan, Kazakhstan, where recovery teams will be present. The crew will undergo medical checks, with Russian cosmonauts heading for rehabilitation and the US astronaut returning home.
