Russia, NASA Tackle Space Collision Risks

Roscosmos and NASA are embarking on enhanced coordination of their satellite operations to mitigate the risk of collisions in orbit. This initiative, spurred by a request from NASA, aims to ensure the safety of space activities.
Dmitry Bakanov, Director General of Roscosmos, emphasized the necessity of close collaboration, stating that potential collisions must be prevented. He noted that Russia manages a constellation of hundreds of spacecraft, while allied constellations collectively possess thousands of satellites.
This intensified cooperation follows the successful docking of the Soyuz MS-29 spacecraft with the International Space Station. The mission, carrying cosmonauts Pyotr Dubrov and Anna Kikina, along with NASA astronaut Anil Menon, is scheduled for a 261-day duration.
