Wastewater Revolution: Faster, Cheaper Recycling

A groundbreaking wastewater recycling technology, developed by inventor Troy Warry, promises to be 16 times more efficient in breaking down stubborn pollutants than traditional systems. This innovative approach destroys contaminants like pesticides, hormones, and pharmaceutical residues at a molecular level, rather than merely filtering them out. The process uses significantly less energy and chemicals, producing cleaner water in a shorter timeframe.

The new technology was successfully trialed in Germany, Spain, and Norway before being implemented in Australia. Central NSW is now home to the first plant featuring this advanced wastewater treatment, a $7.8 million facility recently activated by Dubbo Regional Council.

Squadron Energy invested $3.6 million to access recycled water for its wind farm projects, ensuring local drinking water remains available for the community. This initiative has enhanced water security in the Dubbo region, allowing for development without compromising water availability during droughts.

Warry expressed that regional councils like Dubbo demonstrate foresight in water management, especially as Australia faces increasing pressure on water supplies due to population growth and unpredictable rainfall. He emphasized the untapped potential of wastewater resources.
