ISS Astronauts Briefly Moved to Dragon Amid Air Leak

On Friday, astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) were temporarily relocated to the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft. This precautionary measure was implemented after the air leak rate in the Zvezda service module unexpectedly doubled.

Five astronauts were instructed to move to the docked Dragon vehicle. This action followed discussions between NASA and Roscosmos concerning the escalating air loss. The crew and station systems remained safe, according to Roscosmos.

Repair work on the second identified leak in the Zvezda module was ongoing. NASA opposed a proposed repair method involving a saw, prompting mission control in Houston to issue a temporary safe-haven order for the crew.

The safe-haven directive was rescinded once Roscosmos paused its repair efforts. NASA expressed a commitment to collaborating with Roscosmos on a joint strategy to resolve the leaks.
