Summary
- Juice orbiter captured new images of comet 3I/ATLAS in late 2025.
- 3I/ATLAS is the third object discovered originating outside our solar system.
- The comet will exit our solar system and never be seen again.

The European Space Agency's Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (Juice) captured new images of the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS in late 2025. This object, confirmed in July 2025, is the third ever discovered to originate outside our solar system. Its journey began billions of years ago, ejected into interstellar space before entering our solar system.
Juice observed 3I/ATLAS between November 2 and November 25, 2025, when it was highly active after its closest approach to the sun. Images transmitted back to Earth revealed the comet spewing gas and dust from millions of miles away. This fascinating visitor is merely passing through our solar system and will not be seen again.
