Summary
- New rice offers 3x protein, low glycemic index, and essential micronutrients.
- Green technologies include plant-based leather and petroleum-free binders.
- Efforts aim to reduce food waste and hypertension risks through innovation.

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST) will transfer indigenous technologies to industry.
These include a high-protein, low-GI rice and bio-based binders for coatings. Technologies for dehydrated fruits and aerobic composting will also be shared.
Further innovations address public health, such as designer salt crystals reducing sodium by up to 86%. These advancements aim to improve nutrition and sustainability.
Two agreements for the enhanced rice will facilitate large-scale production. Post-harvest technologies will tackle significant food loss in India.
