The Beaver Moon, so named for the beavers setting up their lodges for winter, will appear up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter than a typical full moon. Stargazers can also enjoy the moon illusion, which will make the supermoon appear even larger near the horizon as it rises each night.
While the moon illusion is a well-known phenomenon, scientists still don't fully understand the reason behind it. "Depending on your mindset, this news might be unsatisfying, or it could be a reason to marvel at our mysterious brains," NASA said.
The Beaver Moon will be the second of three consecutive full supermoons in 2025, offering a rare opportunity for sky enthusiasts to witness this celestial spectacle. Clear skies permitting, the best time to observe the Beaver Moon will be the evenings of November 4 and 5.
