An ancient Aramaic inscription, dating back 1,700 years, has been unearthed at a well-preserved Mithras temple in Zerzevan Castle, Turkey. This significant discovery, found near the Syrian border, provides rare written evidence of Christianity's ascendancy. The inscription, located at the temple entrance with a cross depiction, uniquely mentions both the deity Mithras and Jesus Christ.
Professor Mehmet Sait Toprak analyzed the engraving, concluding it dates to the third or fourth century A.D. He stated the inscription symbolizes the transition from Mithraism to Christianity. This finding offers direct evidence that the temple was symbolically sealed by Christians, reflecting the religion's growing influence and Mithraism's subsequent decline as a rival faith in the fourth century.
