AI Reveals Perfect Body: Young, White, and Flawless

Artificial intelligence platforms have created images that reflect narrow Western beauty standards, depicting ideal male and female bodies as young, white, and conventionally attractive. Analysis of 300 AI-generated images revealed a significant lack of racial and age diversity, with most individuals shown being white and appearing youthful.

The study, which utilized AI bots like Midjourney, DALL-E, and Stable Diffusion, found that women were often depicted with blonde hair and revealing clothing, while men were shown as hyper-muscular and shirtless. None of the generated images featured visible disabilities, underscoring a pervasive absence of inclusivity.

These results emphasize how emerging technologies can amplify existing exclusionary norms. Researchers advocate for human-centered AI design, considering factors such as gender, race, disability, and age, to prevent the perpetuation of harmful and rigid imagery.
