10 Feb
Summary

Cambridge University Botanic Garden is transforming the visitor experience by integrating artificial intelligence. Guests can now engage in conversations with the plants, discovering their unique characteristics and stories.
Each plant has been assigned a name and a distinct personality to make the interaction more engaging. Examples include 'Jade, the Vine,' described as a sassy ceiling-swinger, and 'Titus Junior, the Titan Arum,' known for being blunt and foul-smelling. This initiative aims to create a more interactive and educational environment.
Visitors can choose to communicate with the plants through either voice commands or text messages. The AI system allows the plants to respond to queries, fostering a deeper connection between people and the botanical world. Professor Sam Brockington, the exhibition curator, stated that the goal is to explore new avenues for encouraging learning.
