- The ring was discovered alongside human bones at an archaeological site.

Archaeologists in Thailand have discovered a remarkable 2,000-year-old gold ring at the Don Yai Thong archaeological site in Phetchaburi Province. The ring features an inscription experts believe conveys a protective blessing.
This inscription is thought to read "pusarakhitasa," which translates to "the one protected by Pushya." Pushya is an ancient lunar constellation known for its association with good fortune and protection, suggesting the inscription served as a powerful blessing for its wearer.
The gold ring was found buried alongside human bones, indicating a funerary context. Experts speculate that the owner may have belonged to the Vaishya class, traditionally associated with merchants and traders in ancient Indian society. The excavation has also yielded eight human skeletons, pottery, and other artifacts, suggesting the deceased were of high social standing.
Research at the Don Yai Thong site, which was only recently identified, is ongoing and is expected to conclude in July. The unearthed artifacts will eventually be put on display, allowing the public to view these ancient treasures.
