Climate data and proximity to major airports were also factored in, leading to the crowning of Trunk Bay on Saint John in the US Virgin Islands as the ultimate winner. This Caribbean gem boasts exceptionally blue waters and is accessible in good weather for ten months annually.
European contenders also ranked highly, with Greece's Elafonissi Beach on Crete securing second place for its family-friendly lagoon and picturesque pink sands.
