In October 2025, 26-year-old Sierra Cannon, a content creator from San Diego, made the decision to have freckles tattooed onto her face. Cannon had long dreamed of having the sun-kissed look and had tried various methods, from henna to fake tans, to achieve the perfect freckled appearance.

After deciding on a tattoo artist, whose prices ranged between $185 to $350, Cannon booked an appointment and underwent the procedure. The process, which she described as feeling like "a cat aggressively licking my face," was relatively painless thanks to a numbing cream applied beforehand.

The initial reaction to Cannon's freckle tattoos was mixed, with some followers praising her confidence and others accusing her of going too far. One critic even compared her to the Wendy's red-freckled mascot. However, just a week after the procedure, many of those same critics were surprised by how natural and flattering the results looked on Cannon.

Some with natural freckles were also taken aback, pointing out the irony that what they once tried to conceal is now something others are choosing to permanently ink onto their faces. Despite the initial backlash, Cannon has remained confident in her choice, emphasizing that self-expression and happiness should always come first.
