Woman with Genetic Condition Embraces Body, Inspires Millions

In November 2025, Jessica Rout, a 29-year-old mother from Hull, East Yorkshire, is challenging societal perceptions of the "perfect" body by openly embracing her genetic condition and stomach overhang. Rout first noticed her tummy looked different during her teenage years and would frequently attempt to conceal it and shed pounds in the hope it would vanish.

However, Rout later learned that her condition was caused by Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a genetic disorder that makes her skin more elastic. Despite trying numerous weight loss programs and even considering surgery, Rout's overhang remained. Now, she has launched an Instagram account where she confidently displays her stomach, aiming to inspire other women and change the narrative around body types.
