The Uttarayani Kauthig festival, held at Govind Ballabh Pant Parvatiya and Sanskritic Upvan, concluded its 15-day run on Wednesday, drawing large crowds eager for authentic Uttarakhandi cuisine. Preeti, an engineer who left her corporate career to pursue her passion for regional food, operated the highly popular stall named 'Pyari Pahadan'.
Visitors savored a variety of Garhwali, Kumaoni, and Jaunsari dishes, including 'ragi siddu', 'chainsoo', 'mandua ki roti', and 'bhatt ki dal'. Desserts like 'gulgula' and 'jhangora kheer' were also a hit. Preeti expressed happiness that both people from Uttarakhand and Lucknow locals embraced 'pahadi khana', with many opting to take food home.
Other stall owners, such as Puran Singh Nayan from Almora, aimed to introduce visitors to the rich culinary heritage of Uttarakhand, beyond its scenic beauty. His stall offered dishes like 'gut ke aloo', 'gaderi ki sabzi', and 'bhatt ke pakode', garnering appreciation for their simple yet delicious taste.
