Identical twins Chris and Johnny Taylor, aged 18 from Charlbury, Oxfordshire, have shared their inspiring journey through the foster care system. Having entered care during the Covid pandemic after their mother lost her job, the brothers experienced periods of homelessness, staying in hotels and hostels before being placed with family friends.
Their passion for boxing became a guiding force, providing structure and a sense of purpose. The twins actively pursued their training at Banbury Boxing Club multiple times weekly, even bartering video games for gym memberships when facing financial hardship. They emphasized how their shared love for the sport strengthened their bond, overcoming initial environmental pressures.
Reflecting on their experiences, Johnny described fostering as "one of the greatest gifts." The brothers now aim to "give to people the opportunities" they received, whether through fostering, coaching, or other means. They maintain a close relationship with their mother, viewing their foster family as an extension of their own.
