- Hospice faces service cuts if fundraising targets aren't met.

A vibrant tapestry of 9.1 million tulips across 20 acres has opened to the public, aiming to secure £500,000 for Tapping House hospice. This annual "Tulips for Tapping" event is a critical fundraiser for the hospice, which provides free care for adults with life-limiting illnesses in Norfolk and North Cambridgeshire.
Hospice chief executive Niki Ellis stated that without the funds generated by this event, the charity might be forced to reduce services or staff. The hospice requires approximately £5.7 million annually, with NHS funding covering only about 22%.
The remaining operational costs must be generated through fundraising. Ellis highlighted the symbolic connection between the colorful tulip display and the hospice's mission of bringing joy and enabling people to live life fully until the end.
Belmont Nurseries, which cultivates the tulips, expressed pride in their involvement. Following the display's conclusion on Monday, April 27, 2026, bulbs will be processed for sale and future flower production.
