The typically tranquil world of British truffle hunting is currently experiencing a significant conflict between Melissa Waddingham, a seasoned hunter from a multi-generational family, and her former protégé, Ben Sweet. Waddingham has publicly accused Sweet, a former marketing consultant, of leveraging her acquired knowledge and crucially, her meticulously guarded truffle spots. This intense rivalry has culminated in a scheduling clash of their respective truffle festivals in West Sussex, with Sweet's UK Truffle Festival held just one week before Waddingham's Great British Truffle Festival.
