For decades, life for women in Pandi village was confined to their remote community. This changed recently when 40 tribal women embarked on their first journey to Varanasi, fulfilling a lifelong aspiration. The initiative was prompted by a visit from Varanasi Range DIG Vaibhav Krishna, who learned that poverty and poor connectivity prevented most women from leaving their village.
The UP Police's Mission Shakti organized the special trip, providing transportation and escort for the women, many of whom were over 40 and had never traveled beyond their village. This experience marked their first time on a highway, seeing a bustling city, and encountering modern amenities.
The women's itinerary included visits to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Sankat Mochan Temple, and Durga Kund Temple. They also visited a shopping mall, gaining a glimpse of urban life. DIG Vaibhav Krishna stated the initiative aims to connect remote communities with the mainstream, empowering women and ensuring they feel connected to society and cultural heritage.
