Chef Evan Hennessey, a James Beard Award semifinalist, is launching Topolino, a new Mediterranean restaurant, on March 31st in Dover's emerging Waterfront District. This establishment offers a casual dining experience, distinct from Hennessey's previous restaurant, Stages.
Topolino will feature an open seating concept with a bar and no reservations, located at 9 River St. The menu emphasizes a "huge meze section" with small, shareable plates inspired by French, Italian, Spanish, and North African cuisines, focusing on light, bright flavors.
Hennessey envisions Topolino as a place for "togetherness and community," designed for people to gather and enjoy each other's company. The restaurant will be three times the size of Stages, offering a full bar and eventually patio seating, with plans for an all-day menu and a co-working space connection.
The restaurant's design eschews TVs to promote interaction and connection among diners. Hennessey stresses that Topolino is intended as a community cornerstone, a place for people to gather, work, and enjoy food and drinks at their leisure, fostering a sense of abundance and shared experience.
