Girl's Lemonade Stand Funds Dad's Headstone

An 11-year-old girl from Lubbock, Texas, has purchased a headstone for her late father after a remarkable fundraising effort. Kaylee Hernandez raised nearly $3,000 with her lemonade stand, a feat that surpassed her expectations.

Her father, Ricky Hernandez, died two years ago after a battle with throat cancer. Kaylee expressed that her father was a very present and involved parent, which motivated her desire to honor his memory at his gravesite.

Participating in the community's Lemonade Day event, Kaylee set up her stand and found a line of supporters even before it officially began. She sold twice the amount of lemonade she anticipated, encountering both strangers and familiar faces.

By the end of the day, the nearly $3,000 raised was enough to order a specialized memorial headstone. Kaylee and her mother have since placed the order, with the headstone anticipated to arrive within six to nine weeks.

Kaylee found the experience rewarding, particularly the community's outpouring of support. She felt the effort brought people together to honor her father and acknowledged their collective kindness.
